Welcome back Beatniks,
Fall is in full swing ladies aka we finally have an excuse to excessively drink pumpkin spiced lattes and burn fall scented candles. While we’re soaking up the scents of fall and welcoming the chilly weather with open arms, we find it hard to say goodbye to our favorite clothing pieces of the summer; they hold nights full of memories that we must slowly say goodbye to- so we choose to fade these summer pieces out gradually. Dresses are a summer staple, and wearing them in the fall is just as practical, as long as they’re paired for the weather. Here are some of our latest looks for Autumn incorporating our favorite summer dresses…
Layer long sleeves under the dress & add tights…
Mesh Bodysuit: Boohoo.com, $20
Dress: Saks Off Fifth (Free People), $40
Booties: Ralph Lauren, Thrifted, $5
Shown in this look Kelly is keeping an all black scheme, besides the dress of corse, allowing the dress to pop and make a statement while slimming the rest of the body. Black tights can transform almost any dress from your summer to fall wardrobe. Another tip to make this look work for you: make sure your shirt underneath is tightly fitted to your body, otherwise you can end up looking a bit frumpy.
Layering dresses & funky materials…
Mixing different fabrics and textures, like Caitlin paired velvet with silk, is another great way to give your outfit that touch of fall. Incorporating current fall trends into your ensemble is a surefire way to make sure you don’t look too weather-confused in your “summer” dress. In these looks we incorporated mesh bodysuits, slip dresses, and velvet; You can check out more trends for the season in our last article 8 Items to FALL For.
Keep it classic with a long cardigan, chunky necklace, and booties…
Dress: Saks Off Fifth, (Free People) $40
Cardigan: Urban Outfitters, $30
Booties: Steve Madden (clearance), $50
Necklace: Forever21, $11
Throwing a cardigan over your dress should be a go-to look for just about everyone. Experiment with a longer oversized cardigan to contrast the light material of the dress. Pair this with your favorite booties and some warm colored accessories and your ready to hit the streets (or the pumpkin patch).
The notorious little black dress- sporty edition…
Dress: Thrifted, $6
Sneakers: Nike Air Force 1 flyknits, $175
Flannel: Urban Outfitters, $39
Necklace: Free People, around $30
Meet Beatnik Babe Mia! We’re loving how Mia added a sporty fall vibe to a staple wardrobe piece- the little black dress. Everyone has a LBD hiding somewhere in their closet, and we love seeing new ways to style it. Try throwing on a flannel and some sneakers for a comfortable and cute, sporty fall ensemble. As the weather starts getting chillier, a leather jacket and a chunky scarf would pair with this look perfectly.
